Experienced Ellingham Hall wedding photographer

As a busy Northumberland wedding photographer, I get to work at all the best Northumberland wedding venues, and this is certainly the case when I return to be an Ellingham Hall wedding photographer. Ellingham Hall is a stunning 17th century English country house. Nestled in 8 acres of private grounds and set in the picturesque Northumbrian countryside close to the Scottish borders. Today, it has been reimagined as a luxury Northumberland wedding venue that offers a wealth of amazing backdrops for stunning wedding photos. What I love most when I return to be an Ellingham Hall wedding photographer, are the stunning interiors. The elegant, timeless and sumptuous décor with its crystal chandeliers, grand fireplaces, period furniture and artwork on the walls. It’s so utterly luxurious and totally photogenic. Meaning that the weather cannot spoil an Ellingham Hall wedding. When it comes to flexibility Ellingham Hall are unbeatable as they are licensed to host civil ceremonies in five separate spaces.  The first of these spaces in the Ceremony Room.  This bright and beautiful room has an abundance of period features including a feature fireplace, wood panelled walls and intricate plasterwork on the ceiling from which a large crystal chandelier is hung.  It also enjoys gorgeous views across the lawn.  The ceremony room can seat up to 100 guests.

The largest of the ceremony spaces is the Chapel.  This characterful room has original stone architecture, a feature fire fireplace, artwork and antique mirrors adorn the walls that are painted in neutral tones.  You just add your own decoration though the room is so lovely it needs little adornment. The Chapel can seat up to 140 guests. If you would prefer an outdoor ceremony, Ellingham Hall have three distinctly unique settings. The Front Lawn where a stunning pergola is placed creating a picture-perfect ceremony. Perfect for large ceremonies of up to 140 seated guests. Or you can choose ‘Under the Hollies’. Overlooking the estates private woodland, the holly trees create a perfect backdrop and the sound of running streams and mini waterfalls provide a wonderful soundtrack. Perfect for couples who love nature and the outdoors, ‘Under the Hollies’ can seat up to 10 seated guests with a further 130 standing guests.

For smaller outdoor ceremonies the Rooftop is ideal.  The rooftop is framed by the walled garden with panoramic views of the Northumberland coast on the horizon.  After you have said your vows, you step through the mezzanine, to sign the register in front of the breath-taking iconic chapel window.   The Rooftop can seat up to 60 guests for outdoor ceremonies.

If you’re looking for a more traditional ceremony, pretty St Maurice Church in the village of Ellingham is just a short stroll away.

When I capture wedding photography at Ellingham House, I often start in the Entrance Hall as it’s where guests often start their day. It also makes the perfect space for a drink’s reception at winter weddings. It’s chesterfield sofas, lavish furnishings and log burning stove creating a sumptuous and cosy vibe.

Another favourite space with us Northumberland wedding photographers is the grand staircase. Where better to showcase the dress as the bride descends to make her way to the ceremony.

The Mez is a unique lounge space. It’s home to the iconic Ellingham Hall window, which is a must destination when I do the couples wedding day photoshoot. The Mez leads to onto the rooftop lounge that enjoys spectacular views of the grounds and beyond.

For your wedding breakfast .The Chapel is ideal as it has its own bar and can seat up 140 guests. Plus can go to 180 guests for evening celebrations.

When it comes to food, the in-house chefs at Ellingham House pride themselves on creating bespoke wedding menus offering food that will really impress. For evening celebrations Ellingham Hall really is in a league of its own. You can host your evening wedding party in the Chapel and can enjoy a DJ, live band, fireworks, whatever you want. If you want to party on, your wedding party can relocate to the ‘After Dark Experience’ in the basement. This in-built nightclub has a 2am license allowing you and your guests to party on. When it comes to accommodation Ellingham Hall has two wedding suites, ideal for both the night before, preparation on the morning and as honeymoon suites on the night of the wedding. For guest accommodation there are an additional 27 boutique bedrooms including flexible family accommodation. So, if you’re thinking of getting married at Ellingham Hall, I hope this has been helpful to you. Ellingham Hall really is a stunning wedding venue but you don’t have to take my word for it. The most fun part of planning a wedding is getting to visit amazing wedding venues in brilliant locations. So have fun with it.
