As a busy Whitley Bay wedding photographer, I get to work at all the best Whitley Bay wedding venues, and this is certainly the case when I return to be a Spanish City wedding photographer. This iconic Grade II listed sea front building with its famous dome is one of the North East’s most famous and loved buildings and has been lovingly restored to honour its colourful history. Just a stone’s throw from the beach and enjoying panoramic sea views it’s a truly unique wedding venue. It’s no wonder it has won many awards within the wedding industry. Wedding ceremonies take place in the gorgeous contemporary St Mary’s Lighthouse Suite. This modern function room has elegant wood floors, state of the art lighting and ceiling to floor glass windows. That not only come complete with spectacular sea views, but also floods the space with tons of natural light that I play with to create even more beautiful
images. This blank canvas allows you to decorate it to your tastes though looks best with elegantly dressed chairs, rose petals, candles and floral and/or balloon arrangements. For smaller weddings, it can be partitioned off to create more intimate ceremony spaces.

If you’re looking for an outdoor ceremony, Spanish City do hold smaller wedding blessings for up to 60 guests on the roof. But as their license is for indoors only, you’ll have to take your vows indoors first, and then go to the roof for a blessing. When it comes to drinks and canapes receptions the team at Spanish City offer a choice of two locations. You can choose your own exclusive area on the first floor mezzanine of ‘The Dome’ or in our Champagne Bar overlooking the sea. For wedding breakfasts Spanish City’s fine-dining restaurant 1910 is perfect. With seating for up to 100 guests it enjoys fantastic sea views and is situated with easy access to the
Champagne Bar. There’s a host of catering options for you to choose from to tailor your own wedding menu. Evening celebrations take place in St Mary’s Lighthouse Suite that is perfect for a party. The modern wood floor makes the perfect dancefloor, add to that state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, an in-house DJ and a license for a live band and you have everything you need for a wedding celebration.

The very helpful team at Spanish City have lots of wedding packages to suit all weddings regardless of size, style and budget. And will guide you through the process of planning your wedding ensuring that it is always fun and never stressful. They’re also with you on the
day making sure your day runs smoothly. This allows you to relax and give each other and your guests your full in attention. In the knowledge that your wedding is in safe and capable hands.

There is no parking or accommodation at Spanish City, but there are lots of reasonably priced car parks close by. For accommodation there’s a wealth of hotels in nearby Newcastle and lots of Airbnb properties to rent in the Whitley Bay area. So, if you’re getting married or thinking of getting married at Spanish City, I hope this has been helpful to you.
