Priory Barn and Cottages is a private secluded farming estate called Syningthwaite. Situated near the North Yorkshire town of Wetherby which is central in the golden triangle of Leeds,
York and Harrogate. This working farm got its name from its close proximity to ancient Syningthwaite Priory which is a beautiful building with a rich history, that combined with the surrounding dramatic landscape, make for a romantic and idyllic location for a wedding. For weddings they can accommodate smaller weddings in their barn which can host up to 60- day guests, or for larger celebrations an outdoor or marquee ceremony is ideal accommodating up to 150 guests. And with exclusive use you and your guests get to really explore. For wedding ceremonies, you can choose to get married upstairs in the barn in their beautifully converted barn. Its oak beams are adorned with fairy lights creating a rustic and enchanting vibe perfect for a wedding ceremony.

Or in good weather, you can choose to have an outdoor ceremony in Priory Barn and Cottages expansive grounds. When I capture wedding photography at Priory Barn and Cottages, I love their outdoor weddings in the courtyard. Couples say ‘I do’ standing beside
a flower arch with the Priory Barn in the background. It’s a dreamy and utterly photogenic setting for a wedding ceremony.

If you’re looking to have a more traditional wedding ceremony, there are two beautiful churches, each just a five minute drive away. All Saints at Wighill and St Peters at Walton. When I capture wedding photography at Priory Barn and Cottages, I love capturing images of
the confetti shots. It’s a really fun moment in Priory Barn weddings as guests stand on the first floor of the barn and shower the couple below in confetti. It makes for amazing images. Drinks receptions take place outside in their gorgeous private courtyard. Fairy lit hedges and lanterns create a magical vibe as the sun begins to set. In poor weather, the barn makes a cosy location for your drink’s reception. As guests happily take refreshments and mingle, I like to whisk my couples away for a few minutes for a mini portrait shoot around the grounds. With the barn, cottages and farm offering me an endless supply of beautiful backdrops for amazing wedding photos.

Most wedding receptions take place in the marquee and it isn’t until after the drinks reception that the luxury marquee all dressed and ready for the celebration is revealed to guests. The marquee hire comes with everything you need to dress it beautifully and it has an integrated sound and light systems. So perfect for mood lighting and those all-important speeches. This blank slate in white allows you great flexibility in how you dress it. You even get to choose the colour of the carpet. And Priory Barn and Cottages’ wedding team are always on hand to give you helpful advice where ever you need it. The dancefloor area is cleverly concealed during your wedding breakfast, allowing a DJ or live band to set up for the evening unnoticed. Allowing you to transition from day celebrations to evening in a seamless fashion. When it comes to food, the team at Priory Barn and Cottages work with three local caterers for you to choose from. You then talk through your wishes and they create a bespoke wedding menu just for you. Formal, informal, fine dining or sharing platters. It’s up to you! And with the farm making their own award-winning gin and vodka, it’s fair to say that drinks
for your wedding are in safe and experienced hands. For guest accommodation, the cottages are perfect. Seven beautifully furnished cottages all overlooking the courtyard, each with an individual touch. Between them they have capacity for up to 29 guests so you can have your entire wedding party stay.
